I’m So Sorry

imsosoryI am working on a tin of cards especially for men.  There will be about 15 cards in the tin.  I needed some more “I’m Sorry” cards – all the cards in the tin are random. Well, because men always seem to get in trouble.  And, they probably need more “I’m Sorry” cards more than women do… LOL.

This beauty uses the Tranquil Tulips Hostess Stamp Set, the Layered Leaves embossing folder, doilies, Lots of Labels Framelits, Burlap Ribbon, Duet Banner Punch and Pearl Basic Jewels.

The color combo is Berry Burst, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.  I think it’s very feminine and could possibly get a guy out of the dog house, depending on the offense.

Inspired by a friend!

craftingforeverThis morning, I had a chat with a Stamping friend over Facebook messenger.  She said something that inspired me to make a card.  I quote, “I should be cleaning instead of crafting! But crafting is more fun!”  Courtney, you don’t know what you did!  I immediately thought of this stamp set. Crafting Forever was used to make this fun card.  Any and all of my crafting friends needs a card like this!  LOL

So, the color combo is Whisper White, Basic Gray and Sweet Sugarplum (I am going to be really sad when this color retires).  I know it’s hard to see but I stamped off the Basic Gray and the Sweet Sugarplum on the scissors and baker’s twine (well that’s what I think it is) images.  The “Made with Love” stamp was full on ink.  The background is, of course, the embossing paste with our Pattern Party Decorative mask.  I used Stitched Shapes framelits for the sentiment; 5/8″ burlap ribbon (just one strand pulled from the ribbon) for the curly cue behind the Sentiment.  I used the last of the Pearl Basic Jewels on my sheet (there was two tiny ones – I used those on the period and exclamation point) and 5 in a string just on the banner.  You will notice a doily (well a 1/2 of one) as well.  This card is much prettier in person……

Thank you for the inspiration, Courtney!!

By your side…

CCREW817INSPHere is my inspiration card.  We were given images to look at and asked to make a card based on those images.  I chose the beach scene as I was reminded of a vacation I took to Maine a couple of years ago.  I knew exactly what stamp set I was going to use.  High Tide.  This is an amazing set that will allow you to create a multitude of different beach scenes.  The image below (not sure why it’s so small) is one of the “grids” we were given.  Anyway, if you don’t have this stamp set yet, GET IT!!  It’s fantastic!!

final-product-mood-board-3-638So, what I did to create this card (and what’s really hard to see) is the Pool Party sky I watercolored onto water color paper.  I then stamped the “water” image, the sand, the sea grass, the birds and finally the sentiment.  On a different sheet of whisper white paper, I stamped the light house images.  I stamped off on the full image (Cherry Cobbler ink), then full on with the outline stamp.  I think this came out great!

Some of the products I used are:  Pool Party Ink and paper, Crumb Cake Ink and paper, Soft Suede Ink, Old Olive Ink, Basic Gray Archival Ink.  I used an aqua painter, Watercolor paper, Whisper White card stock, Stitched Shapes Framelits, the Stampin’ Up! stapler and the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.

Wherever you go…

CCREW817SKThis month, we (The Creative Crew on Splitcoaststampers) were asked to create a “Blank slate” meaning a no layer card.  This is usually a challenge I have a hard time with but I thought, “if I could sponge a great background, it will be ok.”  I used a LOT of different colors.  Soft Sky, Powder Pink, Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry (for the sun), Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise.  I wanted a sunset scheme to go with the all (Archival) Basic Black Bridge, Birds, and Sentiment. I think this card came out pretty nicely. What do you think?

The stamp set is called Wherever You Go.  It fits in very well with the travel/staycation theme we were given.  I really love the sun stamp and I was determined to use more of the set for this card.

Last month of Creative Crew

CCREW817SIPThis was the last month of my term in the Creative Crew on splitcoaststampers.  It’s bittersweet! I really enjoy challenges!  This month wasn’t too much of challenge for me. It was all about Vacations or Stay-cations.  My July was PACKED full of vacations.  The last one that I took was to England. My niece and I went for a week and had such an incredible time!  Our last night, we stayed at the Tower Hotel, which was right next to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.  I knew I was going to England when the “Chase Your Dreams” stamp set came out in the Occasions Catalog. I know it’s retired now but I needed it!  I plan on making a scrapbook of my trip.  And this stamp set is perfect for it.  I plan on doing something on the cover of the album and of course, adding it inside the album!

CCREW817SIP-steppedupThe challenge is called SIP…. Step It Up. We have to create 2 cards.  One, simple.  One, stepped up.  Here are both cards.  You can see that they are both great cards.  The stepped up version is colored with ink pads and blender pen, has a glitter border, pearls and I used, Oh My Stars embossing folder on the banners.  While the layout of the card kind of reminds me of the French flag, the same colors are in the British Union Jack.
