Eastern Palace Suite

eastern-thankyouI had been seeing a lot of cards on my pinterest feed using this technique.  They call this the “Collar Fold.”  If you turn it sideways, it does look like a collar.  Anyway, I used the Eastern Palace Suite to create this card.

The colors are Lemon Lime Twist, Dapper Denim and Very Vanilla.   The Eastern Medallions Thinlets cut out the flower and I stuck one of the flower stickers to the card stock.  It’s so pretty!

Best thing to do is to find the center of the paper. The DSP is 3 3/4 x 5 – I put a tick mark on the 2 1/2″ mark and cut 1 7/8″ in.  I scored the paper from the corner to center  (because I am anal).  Then I folded the paper back.  I like this technique.  You might see this technique again soon! hehe.

Inspiration Challenge

We were given three images to inspire a card.  A sideline of mine made a card that helped me bring this card to fruition.  Her card was very different but still had a sunflower on it.  I was moved to make this card by seeing that card and this image.  This card uses a few different things.  I used the Layering Circles framelits for the flower’s center.  I used the Eastern Medallions thinlets for flower.  The stem uses the Flourish Thinlets.  I used Whisper White Thick card stock, Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Tranquil Tide and Whisper White.  On the sides, Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers were used.  I sponged the flower with Chocolate Chip ink and Wink of Stella Clear.  It gave the flower a gold-ish glittery look.    What do you think?

Color challenge

This month’s color challenge was to use strong summer colors.  But this picture was attached and inspired me to make a card.  Strong summer colors… to me, means oceans, sand and a cool drink.    Dapper Denim, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Sky blue… and Lemon Lime Twist for the drink.  I used the Seasonal Layers Framelits and the Colorful Seasons Photopolymer Stamp set for this card.  I also used Glitter Enamel Dots for accents on this card and again used a strand from the Burlap Ribbon.  Whisper White Thick, Dapper Denim and Whisper White card stock too.

Card Sketches

Card sketches are probably my favorite types of challenges. I like seeing someone’s sketch and making a card with it.  As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew what stamp set I would use immediately!  “Just add text” has a couple of different longer text blocks.  It was perfect for this card.  I used the Eastern Palace DSP, the Glittery Acrylic Shapes and 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  I pulled one of the fibers out of the ribbon, rolled it up and used a dimensional to keep it place.  I used the new Very Vanilla Thick card stock.

I would love to see a card YOU make with this sketch!  Like me on Facebook and post your card on my page!  https://www.facebook.com/swaltitude/

Stepped up already…

CCREW617SIPFor the month of June, the Creative Crew on splitcoaststampers.com asked us to only do 5 projects, instead of 6. I chose to make this challenge already stepped up and not do the simpler version of this card.

I also used this card as a color challenge that my upline put out.  The challenge was to make a card with all the In-Colors or to make 5 cards using only one In-Color.  So…. I used them all!

The stamp set used was Feathery Friends.  I used all of the In-Color markers for ink, I used all the In-Colors for paper too!  The flower centers have Clear Faceted Gems.  Cute huh?
