Build A Banner

I have to say, that I had WAY too much fun today.  I created a banner with the new Build A Banner Simply Created Kit #133507 (will be available to you tomorrow!!) and the Christmas Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit #132697.  Now, the hardest part was taking pictures of this bad boy.  It’s so darn pretty but I can’t get one single picture of it.  So, I broke it up.

Well, there is NOT 3 L’s for real.. *grin*… It’s only CHILLY…

So, I learned some things making this banner.  I thought I would pass on these tips.  Make sure that if you spritz each banner with color, you should do three things:  1) Make sure that you iron the pennants first.  2) Put a LOT of reinker in the spritzer before you spritz.  I put about 30 drops and that wasn’t enough… 45 – 50 seemed to work.  You do NOT want to over spray the pennant.  The color will seep and bleed together if it’s too wet.  3) Spray close to the banner to get the most color with the least amount of liquid. Also, spray directly above the banner, not at an angle.  (You can see in the last picture with the L and the Y that the L is perfect and the Y stripes are bleeding into each other) – Practice makes perfect!  You should see my first pennant… It’s not pretty… thinking of dying it solid… LOL

Honestly, even though it’s not perfect, it still looks great!  If the sun moves, I will get a pic of the whole pennant!

Place Card with a twist

My roommates decided that we should do a “swap” with each other while we were at Convention.  We each made a project for each other to make.  Since Cathy and I drove, we had the room to bring supplies with us.  Cathy loaded up her craft room in the back of the car and off we went.  *grins*

This is my project – each lady had enough supplies to make 8 place cards and a ribbon to tie them all together.  But there is a twist.  Behind the name place, there is a message to the “guest.”

What do you think?  Kind of cute, right? Note the Tangerine Tango Baker’s Twine.  Where did I get that from?  I made it!  I took Whisper White Baker’s Twine, water, a small container and Tangerine Tango re-inker.  I used about 15 drops of re-inker (my container was an empty Stampin’ Up! container from buttons) and filled the container about 3/4 of the way with water.  I soaked the right sized Baker’s Twine for a minute or two, until it absorbed the color.  Then I hung the Baker’s Twine up over my faucet to dry.  You can even do all of your twine at once (I had 36 pieces to color).

Playing with MDS… Again!

Earlier, I told you that MDS has become an obsession again!  It’s so easy to just open a program and have all of your stamping supplies right there!!  To clean up my mess, I only have to close the program! LOL!!  Today is a rainy day in Colorado Springs.  It’s actually hailing and thunder-storming pretty loudly.  I back-up my work quite often so I’m not to worried about losing my stuff! LOL
